Runner's Paradise
FAQ
For whom is this book?
For all
globetrotter, trail-, road-, half-marathon-, marathon-, ultra distance- AND
novice runner, nordic walker, trekker,
bookworms (no matter, if more or less fit). And of course people, who support
new and creative ideas.
How can I participate on Runner’s Paradise?
Quiet
simple: you pre-order one of the book packages (eg. eBook incl. special
features and GPS-data or a limited and signed first hard-cover edition with
your name as supporting partner in it), sign up for an exclusive adventure
weekend or join one of the fantastic expeditions, that will be presented in the
book.
Why should I spend money in a book, that
doesn't exist yet?
Exactly to
make that happen. Without irritating product placements, dependence of sporting
goods companies and faked pictures. You support a great idea and help to make
it come true. Worldwide, you will be
recognized in the book or the official project website as designated supporter.
You will be a member of an exclusive network of innovative minds and part of
a small society of supporter. Plus, it
wouldn't be the first time, that new friendships for life and business contacts
develop on one of my expeditions, even lovers have found each other.
Why should you get involved as soon as
possible?
Your
support could very well be a call for other potentials to JOIN IN. If everybody
waits till the last day chances are, that nothing will happen at all. This
unique project deserves better, though. With your support, the project could
already start before the end of the crowdfunding period. And remember: Places
on the research trips are limited.
How long is the crowdfunding period?
The span
for your participation is limited and ends at the 30th of April,
2012.
What happens, if the crowdfunding fails?
If the
minimum sum isn't generated till the 30th of April, 2012, the
crowdfunding project terminates and no money is being charged from the
registered supporters. Only if the minimum sum is being generated, the money
will be transfered to Runner's Paradise and
the project can start as planned (zero risk).
When do the running expeditions take place?
The trail
running expeditions will happen all year round. The dates of the 'open'
expeditions can be found here and in the blog of our crowdfunding site.
Will there be other running expeditions than
the proposed ones right now?
Yes, there
will be more fantastic expeditons. They will be advertised in due time. We are
happy to keep you informed of everything happening at Runner's Paradise. Just send us an email to news@runners-paradise.com and we'll send you all the important infos and
updates.
How fit do I have to be to join the running
expeditions?
That
depends on the selected trail. For sure, you don't have to be a marathon- or
experienced trail runner to enjoy the expedition. Everybody healthy, who
exercises on a regular basis and can run 20-25km (12-15mi) per day can easily
participate. Some expeditions are demanding stage runs with your personal
equipment, other tours even offer your non-running partner or spouse to take
part and enjoy alternative activities during the running periods. Please read
the trip informations for further details.
What happens, if I signed up for an expedition,
but cannot join for scheduling reasons?
If you
signed up for an expedition in the crowdfunding period, but are unable to
participate in that particular trip, you can move your reservation to any other
trail running adventure, that will fit your schedule, even for future trips. This
requires space available in the alternative expedition, of course.
What about additional travel- and personal
costs?
That
depends on the duration and type of expedition. Each expedition team member has
to take care of their own transportation to the destination and local needs,
entrance fees and food. The cost for accommodation varies due to the fact, if
we stay in tents, simple huts, hostels or hotels. In the end, the additional
costs are less than booking through a travel agent. And all this including your
presence in the final edition of Runner's Paradise.
What type of equipment do I need?
A relaxed
trip to the Atacama desert requires different equipment than a stage run in Iceland. Each
expedition member will receive a detailed list of recommended gear. Actually, you don't need much to start
exploring the world.
Who organizes and guides the running
expeditions?
Michele plans and conducts each expedition
personally. Through unforeseeable events, it can always happen, that changes
have to be made to the itinerary. That's a big part of the expediton character.
It requires a certain degree of composure, flexibility, resilience and, most
important, team spirit. The expeditions focus on 2 goals: 1.) joint
exploration, enjoying the beauty and nature, training, maybe testing your
limits, relaxing, and 2.) generating the data and content for the book (photos,
videos, trail- and tour infos, diaries, GPS data, etc.)
When and where happen the adventure weekends?
The weekends are held in Germany
and Switzerland,
so far. With a group size exceeding 15 persons, it can happen anywhere on the
planet.
